Labor & Birth Doula

$700 during certification

After the initial consultation, I will book two pre-natal visits, one at a time of the clients choosing, the second during the clients 38th week of pregnancy. After the second meeting, I will remain on call, twenty four hours a day, until the birth.

During labor I will provide emotional, mental and spiritual support as needed, as well as physical support in the form of comfort measures. This may include aromatherpay massage, the use of a birth ball or birth peanut, and various other doula techniques. If the client has a preference in how they are supported, this may be discussed during either the consultation or the pre-natal visits.

I will stay around as a support until the family has settled, generally about two hours. I will return to the family for a post-partum visit during the first week after birth to help the family settle in, offer breast-feeding support or any other type of support mother or baby may desire.

Extended Post-Partum Doula

$25 per hour during certification

Many families choose to extend their doula care into the first few weeks after birth. As a post-partum doula, I can fill many roles for the family. I may run errands or do light housekeeping, offer extended breast-feeding support, prepare family meals and light snacks, provide care for other siblings who may have trouble adjusting, provide baby soothing techniques as well as diapering, bathing and comforting. I can also provide support to mothers who are experiencing baby blues. My role may last anywhere from five days to the first month, depending on the client's needs.

Families wishing to gift post-partum care to a pregnant mother are welcome as well!

Services

Janessa offers both labor and extended post-partum care for mothers and their partners. Upon the initial consultation the family may choose to add different services to the doula contract for an additional cost.
